About Us

Smooth Sailing Educational Consult addresses one of education’s most pressing challenges: helping schools effectively manage student behavior so teachers can succeed and remain in the profession. Through embedded coaching, customized behavior systems, and data-driven support, Smooth Sailing partners directly with K–12 schools to create lasting improvements in classroom culture and student outcomes. Offering services ranging from targeted workshops to long-term partnerships, the practice provides practical, sustained solutions tailored to each school’s needs and budget. Focused on building a strong reputation through measurable results and trusted relationships, Smooth Sailing aims to become the go-to behavior management partner for schools seeking meaningful and lasting change.

The Challenge Schools Face

Walk into any school staffroom and listen to what teachers are actually talking about. It is not a curriculum or standards. It is the student who flipped a desk in the third period. It is the class that has not been able to get through a full lesson in three weeks. It is the slow, grinding exhaustion of managing behavior with no training, no backup, and no end in sight. The data behind those conversations is stark. Research consistently shows that student behavior and lack of administrative support are among the primary reasons teachers leave the profession — not after decades of service, but within the first five years.

Schools spend $10,000 to $20,000 replacing every teacher who walks out. When a teacher leaves mid-year, the students who need consistency most are the ones who pay the price. The problem is not that schools don’t care. It is that they don’t have the capacity. Administrators are stretched too thin to coach classroom management. Professional development budgets go to one-day training that no one remembers. And the teachers who are struggling, the ones who most need support, are the least likely to ask for it because asking feels like admitting failure. Smooth Sailing exists because the gap between what schools know they need and what they actually have access to is costing them their best people.

Who We Serve

Smooth Sailing is built for K–12 schools that are serious about keeping good teachers and creating classrooms where students can actually learn. The ideal client is a school or district that already knows it has a behavior problem and is ready to do something real about it — not looking for a checkbox solution.

Primary Clients

  • Title I schools and under-resourced districts facing high teacher turnover and escalating discipline referrals
  • Charter schools and charter management organizations building or rebuilding their behavior systems
  • Traditional public schools where administrators want to support teachers but lack the internal capacity to do it well
  • Schools that have tried one-day professional development and are ready for something that actually sticks

Secondary Clients

  • Individual teachers seeking private coaching outside of school-sponsored programs
  • District-level leaders looking for a partner to support multiple schools under one contract
  • New school leaders who inherited a culture they did not create and need help resetting it

Founder

My name is Kendra Riley-Williams and I am an education professional that specializes in teacher coaching, school culture development, and the creation of effective behavior support systems. My experience spans from PK–12th grade Instruction, special education, PBIS/MTSS implementation, and school leadership. I am committed to improving both student outcomes and educator sustainability. In my current role, I assist the administrative team with building and maintaining a proactive, data-driven behavior framework that empowers teachers and fosters positive, supportive learning environments. I coach educators, lead data reviews, design interventions across multiple tiers, and ensure strong, consistent implementation across the school systems. Before stepping into this role, I spent over 20 years as a Health and Physical Education instructor, where I designed inclusive curriculum, promoted wellness, and created safe, engaging spaces for students to learn and grow.
